Avalon Shopping Mall in Alpharetta, Georgia

Hello! I’m Tim Trevathan with Tim Trevathan Homes and Keller Williams Realty. Today, we are going to talk about one of my favorite places in Alpharetta, Avalon. If you are familiar with Avalon, you already know it is known for its modern Southern atmosphere, high-end shopping, chef-driven dining, and family-friendly activities. If you aren’t familiar with Avalon, I am excited to introduce you to it!

Avalon is located in Alpharetta, Georgia. It is in northern Fulton county, just 22 miles north of Atlanta. With a population of just over 66,000 people, Alpharetta certainly tries hard to live up to its slogan of “Awesome Alpharetta”.  Within just a 5 mile radius, you’ll find over 250 shops and 200 restaurants. There are also a variety of indoor and outdoor activities and entertainment to choose from in Alpharetta.

In April 2022, the median home price was $599,000. Swim and tennis communities abound in Alpharetta, but you’ll also find lofts with a more urban flair as well as some older, very established neighborhoods.

Okay, so back to Avalon. This 86-acre, sustainability-focused enclave is a live-work-play community at its finest. Avalon isn’t just a destination; it is also a lifestyle.

When it comes to living, there are two luxury apartment home communities, Veranda at Avalon & Haven at Avalon, offering 1 & 2 bedroom apartment homes. The size of ranges from 600 sq ft studios to 1,700 sq ft two bedroom apartments with rents ranging from just over $2,000/month to just over $5,000/month.

Both communities offer residents access to a well-equipped 24/7 fitness rooms, gigabyte speed wireless internet connection, and a variety of free and fee-based services through the Avalon Concierge. Plus, walk out your door and experience all of the shopping, dining, entertainment, and events that Avalon has to offer.

Avalon also offers a small, exclusive neighborhood with 25 luxurious single family homes and 75 courtyard-attached homes. These offer residents more space than an apartment while maintaining access to all of the Avalon amenities. These typically sell for over 1 million dollars.

But what if you don’t call Avalon home? There is still a lot to see, do, and experience.

Avalon is home to over a dozen chef-driven restaurants. No matter what your cuisine of choice is, you are sure to find something you will enjoy. While most of the dining establishments are high-end, full service restaurants, there is a Chick-fil-a and a couple other quick-service options that are perfect if you have limited time.

Avalon is also home to 570,000 sq ft of retail space. With dozens of high-end retailers such as Apple, Gap, Vineyard Vines, Lululemon, Madewell, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Williams & Sonoma, and Tesla, take a stroll down Avalon Boulevard and you are sure to find the accessories, clothing, home décor, or other items you are looking to find.

What about the “work” part of live-work-play? Avalon offers businesses 75,000 sq ft of Class-A office space as well as offering modern office lofts. If you are hoping to move your business to Alpharetta, give Avalon a call and see it is the right place for your business to call home.

That brings us to the “play” part of live-work-play. In addition to the shopping and dining I mentioned, Avalon offers numerous entertainment options. First, is a 12-screen movie theater. You can shop, eat dinner, grab ice cream at Jenni’s, and then catch a late movie before heading home.

Avalon also offers various events throughout the year. In the winter, an ice-skating rink offers fun for all ages. In the summer, join the cornhole league or come out for the monthly comedy night. If you have small children, check out Little Acorns, a weekly event designed for preschoolers.

You can find great dining, shopping, and entertainment a lot of places. What you can’t find as easily is all of the extras that make Avalon special.

Avalon prides itself on being family-friendly, and knows that dogs are an important part of many families. While dogs are welcome to walk down Avalon Boulevard on-leash, head over to the dog park for some off-leash fun.

If you need a break after all that shopping, head over to The Living Room. You’ll find swings, a bocce ball court, fire pit, water fountain, and plenty of comfortable seating where you can take a break and enjoy your family or soaking up the Avalon energy.

There are a variety of thoughtfully designed outdoor areas throughout the Avalon that will draw you in and invite you to relax and take a seat while you enjoy your ice cream, coffee, or chat with a friend.

The Plaza acts as the central gathering area for Avalon. This is where you’ll find the skating rink in the winter, and a large gathering area for community events.

There is also an outdoor children’s play area as well as an indoor area specifically designed with young families in mind, offering spaces to feed and change your baby or to re-group with your toddler.

For everything people love about Avalon, there is one thing that people don’t love: parking. There are parking decks, surface lots, and metered street parking, but Avalon is so popular that a common complaint is parking is difficult to find, especially on the weekends. Valet parking is available at an affordable rate and 3 drop-off and pick-up areas make it a very convenient way to avoid any parking woes.

I want to mention one last thing and that is Avalon also offers its very own hotel. Called, of course, the Hotel at Avalon, this luxurious hotel oozes modern Southern hospitality. Connected to the Alpharetta Conference Center, it is popular with business travelers but is also the perfect place for friends or relatives to stay when visiting if you become an Avalon resident or live nearby.

If you haven’t checked out Avalon for yourself yet, you need to make plans to head over soon and pay a visit. For a complete listing of all the dining, entertainment, and retail options, head over to Avalon’s easy-to-navigate website.
